Adele Roberts returns to radio a month after bowel cancer surgery

Adele Roberts has made a happy return to BBC Radio 1, after taking some time off to have an operation to fit a stoma bag.

I'm A Celebrity star Adele, 42, revealed in October that she had been diagnosed with bowel cancer.

Later, she underwent an operation to have a stoma bag fitted amid her treatment for cancer.

Following her recovery from the op, Adele has now made a return to work, sharing her excitement over getting back into the radio station.

In the early hours of Saturday 27 November, Adele shared a photo of her kettle on her Instagram story, showing she was awake at 4.38am.

Adele, who recently revealed she was still getting used to her stoma bag, told her followers she was "too excited" as she posted the photo on her Instagram story.

She later shared a video of the BBC Radio 1 branded stoma bags made by her girlfriend Kate Holderness.

Sharing her appreciation, Adele said in the clip: "Look what she made me! You are so amazing Katie, can I wear this today? You've even cut it to my size as well, look at that. I can't believe it, I'm going back on Radio 1!


"I can't believe it, it's like a month since I had my surgery and they're allowing me to come back which I think Kate is secretly happy about because I need to let that energy out somewhere!"

Adele then addressed her followers as she said: "So hopefully I can see you all a 7 o'clock this morning and I'm going to try and do all my crying now so I don't cry like a big baby later on on the radio. But, I'm dead excited!"

Later, Adele shared a snap of her smiling widely as she held one arm out and stood in the BBC Radio 1 studio.

As the I'm A Celeb star shared the photo on her Instagram story, she also took to Twitter to mark the occasion with the snap.

Writing on top of the image, Adele tweeted: "And we’re off! I’ve missed you so much. Please come & join us Saturday crew" followed by a red heart emoji.

Adele revealed her diagnosis shortly before she went under the knife to have the stoma bag fitted.

She broke the news to fans by sharing a photo of herself in hospital gown and told her followers in the caption: "For a while now I’ve been struggling with my digestion. Thanks to a conversation I had with my Dad a few years back I went to my GP for a check up.

"I’ll be honest, I was embarrassed but I also knew that it could be something serious. So I went just in case.

"I didn’t think anything of it at first and just assumed it might be food sensitivity.

"After a few phone calls I was sent for some examinations and checks. I was then diagnosed with bowel cancer. This was at the start of the month."
