Asan N'jie is at the centre of an ITV probe after his violent scuffle with Jamie Lomas at Monday night's TV Choice Awards.
The Emmerdale star was witnessed throwing punches and threatening to stab Jamie with a knife in front of shocked celebrities and staff.
But while neither of the actors involved in the brawl have publicly commented on the events of that night, they do share one very strange connection: Coronation Street star Katie McGlynn, who was also at the ceremony.
Katie, who played Sinead Tinker, is set to leave the soap when her character dies of cervical cancer in an upcoming episode, but previously worked with Asan in Waterloo Road nearly 10 years ago.
She used to play tearaway schoolgirl Scout opposite Asan's Neil and considered themselves old friends – or that's what her rep insisted when the pair were spotted getting cosy together at the National Television Awards in January this year.
They were seen in the smoking area speaking intimately with each other while Asan ran his hands up and down Katie's arm.
Katie, who had recently split from her boyfriend Benji Roberts, was seen leaning in as Asan spoke in her ear in front of other stars.
The 26-year-old actress had previously teamed up with Kym Marsh's ex-husband Jamie on a charity venture back in 2016.
They, along with a handful of other famous faces, took part in the Manchester Sleepout to raise awareness of street homelessness.
At the time, Katie said: "I'm doing the challenge because I think it's important to raise awareness about what homeless people have to deal with day in day out, we're only experiencing one night of it.
"In this day and age, I think it’s very sad that people have no option but to live on the streets. No matter how or why they got there, there should be a better system to help them into a safer environment."
Jamie also said he was honoured to take part in the charity event, adding: "Nobody should have to be homeless and living on the streets in this day and age. Everybody has their own story as to where they are in life and we should all do what we can to help one another and especially those who may have fallen on hard times."
Their team raised £2,000 for the sleepout – twice as much as they'd aimed for.
There is no suggestion Katie was involved in the brawl between the two men.
She has since spoken out about a separate incident on the same night, however, insisting that she and Love Island's Maura Higgins weren't embroiled in a furious spat at the TV Choice after-party.
Pictures of the stars, bookended by Maura's boyfriend Curtis Pritchard and their friend Chris Taylor, showed Katie wagging her finger in Maura's face as the boozy night wore down.
Katie's face was animated as she leaned in towards Maura and seemed to be shouting at her, while Chris put a reassuring hand on Maura's arm.
The soap star then turned her ire towards Curtis, who attempted to defuse the situation.
But she's since tweeted to insist there was no row.
"Must be a slow news day. It was a pleasure meeting @MauraHiggins last night, she's a lovely girl!" she told followers.
"We had a great night. Must remember to be less animated when talking to new friends haha."
Katie also Instagrammed a snap of her frowning while holding Maura's hand as they exited the event, writing over it: "My face when I saw the headlines of our 'row' this morning."
