Bridgerton's hair stylist March Pilcher has sadly died of COVID-19 only a month after winning an Emmy for his work on the hugely-popular Netflix drama.

Nicola Coughlan and other stars of the hit period epic have led the tributes to their “talented” and beloved colleague.

Pilcher, who was also a makeup artist, was proud and thrilled to win his first award from the prestigious Emmys in September.

The Bridgerton set worker was nominated in the category for Best Period Hair-Styling.

After a fantastic time at the ceremony, which took place in Los Angeles in America, Pilcher told his fans he was “still flying”.

Pilcher’s age at the time of his death is not known.

Derry Girls actress Nicola posted the news on her Twitter page, where she told followers she was left “heartbroken” by Pilcher’s loss.

“So heartbroken by the loss of Marc Pilcher, the brilliant and visionary Hair and Makeup designer for Bridgerton Season One,” she wrote.

“Marc was so passionate about his work and so tremendously talented.

“Not even a month ago he won his first Emmy award,” the Penelope Featherstone star continued, adding a black and white image of her friend dressed to impress in a tuxedo.

She then said: “My heart goes out to his friends and family, especially to his wonderful team Lynda, Lou, Adam, Hollie, Tanya and Claire.

“He loved and cared for you all so much and my heart goes out to you all. Rest in Peace Marc.”

Nicola finished her tribute by lamenting the “tragedy” of Pilcher’s loss so young, and reminded her followers that Covid is still a very “real and present danger”.

Fans also shared their thoughts for the artist’s loved ones, as one person wrote: “So so sorry to read this what an artist and amazing man x.”

“Awfully sad news, my heart goes out to his family, friends and colleagues x,” another posted.
