Black Panther actor, Chadwick Boseman has died at the age of 43. His death was confirmed in a statement posted to the star’s social media accounts which stated he died at his home in Los Angeles with his family by his side.

Chadwick died after a four-year battle with cancer after it progressed to stage four.

His death was confirmed with a statement on his social media channels.

The statement revealed the actor was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2016.

The full statement read: “It is with immeasurable grief that we confirm the passing of Chadwick Boseman.

“Chadwick was diagnosed with stage III [three] colon cancer in 2016, and battled with it these last four years as it progressed to stage IV [four].

“A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much.

“From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more, all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy.

“It was the honour of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther.

“He died in his home, with his wife and family by his side.

“The family thanks you for your love and prayers, and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time.”

Upon news of his death, many people paid tribute to the late actor on social media.

One user wrote: “Chadwick Boseman easily made black panther my favourite superhero and I will always remember and respect him for that.”

Another wrote: “Woke up to the worst news ever. RIP Chadwick Boseman.”

The Black Panther Twitter account also paid tribute to the actor.

They said: “Our hearts are broken, and our thoughts are with Chadwick Boseman’s family.

“Your legacy will live on forever. Rest In Peace.”

Fellow Marvel actor Chris Evans shared a post remembering the late actor.

He tweeted: “I’m absolutely devastated. This is beyond heartbreaking.

“Chadwick was special. A true original. He was a deeply committed and constantly curious artist.

“He had so much amazing work still left to create. I’m endlessly grateful for our friendship. Rest in power, King.”

Chadwick was married to Taylor Simone Ledward with reports suggesting the pair tied the knot before the actor’s cancer advanced.
