Dan Walker, 44, has taken to Twitter to show his loyal fans some of the positive response he receives week on week during his time on Strictly Come Dancing. The BBC Breakfast presenter received his highest score of the series last week, however this did not stop criticism.

Thanks for all the support.

Dan tweeted in view of his 729,800 followers some of the responses he has received since Saturday’s show.

Matt_Sole wrote: “I love you @revkatebottley – telling it like it is!

“The important thing is that for a couple of hours each weekend I am transported to a happy place.

“The truth is, Dan may not technically be the best dancer, but he is joyous and I love watching him.”

In response to the message, Dan replied: “I know we tend to concentrate on the negative but, overwhelmingly, these are the sort of messages I get about #Strictly every day.

“It’s very special to be a small part of a show that means so much to so many people.

“Thanks for all the support.”

Dan’s loyal fans were quick to the comments to reassure the presenter on how well he is doing on the dance show.

Ssnpb1 said: “I have no qualifications to judge on technical content.

“I vote for the dance that entertained me or if I like their personality because they are the couple I want to see again.

“I can recognise improvement… I think you’re doing great.”

Jackskett added: “My wife and I haven’t ever got into Strictly, but we’re watching it this year because you’re in it.

“You’re doing so well – keep going!”

Jojoarthur commented: “I think you’re all superb.

“To learn so much in such a short time is amazing.

“Such joyous Saturday night TV.”

Last Saturday Dan and his partner Nadiya Bychkova performed the American Smooth, receiving their first nine from Anton Du Beke.

Receiving comments from the judges, Craig Revel Horwood remarked: “It lacked any feeling, I thought there was a desperate lack of style throughout the whole thing.”

However, head judge Shirley Ballas thought differently: “From beginner to lobster, from lobster to out here in [your] tails, lifting and going.

“We asked you a few weeks ago, shift your butt and move, you did that you attempted it today very well, Anton and I were in shock.”

You can watch Strictly Come Dancing this Saturday on BBC One at 6.35pm
