Eastenders star Jake Wood grows a huge beard after filming final scenes as Max Branning on the soap

After filming his final scenes at Eastenders in December, Jake Wood has ditched his clean-shaven look for a huge beard.

The actor, who had his Instagram account hacked recently, took to Instagram to show off his impressive beard game after saying goodbye to his on-screen character Max Branning.

The 48 year old shared a picture of himself wearing a winter hat on his head and showed off his new face accessory.

He captioned the snap: "#BeardWatch," with a bulging bicep emoji and an orange love heart emoji.

Jake's fans rushed to the comments section to share their views about his brand new look.

One fan wrote: "Welcome to the beard gang!" while another said: "Solid beard effort."

"mrjakewood, got to say your beard is looking absolutely Awesome, it's growing really fast, #Bearded," a follower expressed.

"Oh my goodness me wow! A lovely colour on you Jake," somebody else shared, and a fifth person added: "Now that's a impressive beard."

The soap star shared an emotional video on his last day of filming for Eastenders on Instagram and reflected on the amazing memories he created over the last 15 years.

He began: "Morning everyone. How are we all? I hope you're well.

"A wet and grey day. It's a strange day for me this, my last day on set, my last day filming Eastenders after 15 years as Max Branning.

"Yeah, I'll miss this place. It's the people really for me.

"I've met some amazing people and made some amazing friends. I've just had an incredible, life-changing experience."

Jake concluded the clip by thanking all of his fans who have supported him along the way.

"Thank you to everyone for all your messages and support and love. I've really appreciated all of that and who knows what the future brings but today we say goodbye to Max Branning.

"A bit of a sad day but I just wanted to share that with you. Alright guys, take care."

The BBC star, who helped co-star Adam Woodyatt with his weight loss, burst onto the square as Max in 2006.

Since then, he has been involved in a number of high-profile storylines including Max's affair with Stacey Slater and his most recent romance with Linda Carter.
