Hollyoaks star Jamie Lomas has announced that his beloved dad has passed away following a long battle with cancer.
Jamie, 48, best known as Hollyoaks' Warren Fox, took to Instagram on Saturday to share the heartbreaking news.
Sharing a black and white photo of him standing next to his dad he wrote the caption: "My best mate. My hero. RIP DAD. A true legend. A sad day" he ended the post with a black heart emoji.
The actor's star studded pals and co-stars flooded to the comments to offer their condolences following the news.
Co-star Richard Blackwood wrote: "Bro I’m so sorry for your loss! I know this can’t be easy and I’m here if you need me."
While Hollie-Jay Bowes who played the role of Michaela McQueen commented: "Huge love" alongside a red heart emoji.
"Bro I’m so gutted for you and the family, heaven has gained a good one, Jazzy was one in a million! Thinking of you all r kid and I’m here if any of you need anything" said Hollyoaks and Emmerdale star, Anthony Quinlan.
Stephanie Waring who plays the role of Cindy Cunningham in Hollyoaks added: "So sorry Jamie sending lots of love."
"Oh J, I’m so sorry to see this. Thinking of you and your family. Love you, you know where I am xx" gushed Anna Passey who plays Sienna Blake in the Channel 4 soap.
Former Atomic Kitten singer, Jenny Frost also rushed to comments and wrote: "So sorry for your loss. He was the ultimate old school gent…a legend of a man. Thinking of you all."
Jamie revealed back in 2020 that his dad had been diagnosed with prostate cancer.
He went on to sign up for The Real Full Monty on Ice that year – a show that raises awareness of cancers in intimate areas of the body such as the prostate and breast.
At the time he told the Mirror: "My dad suffers with prostate cancer. So for me to be able to give something back for him by doing this show, for everyone as we've had such an awful six months, there must be so many people going undiagnosed [with cancer].
"ITV have battled to get this show out there. It's just an amazing thing to do to get this out there for people who may be struggling. If it saves just one person, then the show is worth it."
The devastating news comes just a week after Jamie announced his engagement to his dentist girlfriend, Jess Bell.
The soap star popped the question to his girlfriend of three years during an elaborate proposal in Mexico.
Jamie was previously married to former Coronation Street actress Kym Marsh who he shares his daughter Polly, 12 with – he also has a 17 year old son called Billy from a previous relationship.
