Home and Away star Orpheus Pledger has been charged after he was allegedly found with a quantity of the drug “ice”, also known as methamphetamine, in his possession.

The actor pleaded with a magistrate to be “gentle” on him as he appeared over the charge on Wednesday, July 14 at a court in Melbourne, according to The Daily Mail.

The soap star was arrested by Prahran police on February 19 and was charged with two counts of drug possession.

He was arrested allegedly carrying 30 Diazepam tablets and just over half a gram of meth on him.

The 28 year old actor, who hails from Melbourne, was later sent home on bail by police, and has appeared in court nearly five months later.

Pledger called in via a video link due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic restrictions, and his cat was spotted wandering past him in the living room as he asked the magistrate to keep the proceedings out of the media.

Wearing a black T-shirt and glasses, the actor said: “Well, seeing as though I don't have counsel present, I would like to keep things out of the media until the matter is resolved."

The court magistrate told him that wouldn’t be possible, as he explained: “That well may be your wish.

“But the issue is, if we were in normal times, the media is quite entitled to sit at the back of the court.

“So I don't believe I could restrict them from at least obtaining a copy of the charges.”

“Be gentle, your honour,” the actor asked, after conceding to magistrate Hugh Radford.

“I’m always gentle sir,” Mr Radford then replied with a laugh.
