Strictly: Nancy gets feedback with blood on her neck
Strictly Come Dancing’s second week certainly had many talking points as the celebrity cast and professional dancers showcased their first routines together on the dance floor.
Hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman were back on hand to host, while judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke returned to their judging seats.
On the dance floor, actor Nigel Harman was one of the biggest surprises of the evening, after some viewers had initially expressed concerns over his first routine being a Paso Doble.
Ahead of him and Katya Jones performing, one Twitter user claimed he was “set up for a fall”, but his efforts proved otherwise and led him to top the leaderboard with 32 points.
Many fans praised the Casualty star on Twitter, as one wrote: “Bl***y hell. Nigel Harman is a little bit brilliant, isn’t he? #Strictly.”

Another typed: “Brilliant opening performance from Nigel Harman to close week one of #Strictly. And yet again, this highlights the incredible choreography powers of Katya Jones. We might see this dance again in the final.”
Head judge Shirley also told the actor he was “the one to beat”.
This year’s oldest contestant Angela Rippon, 78, also wowed the judges and viewers with her flexible moves.
The television presenter, who has been dubbed this year’s Debbie McGee, defied her years with a fleet-footed routine and a high kick, which Craig Revel Horwood branded “jaw-dropping”.
She and Kai Widdrington came joint second on the leaderboard alongside Layton and Nikita, Ellie and Vito, Bobby and Dianne, and Amanda and Giovanni, who scored 29 points respectively.

Bobby also received high praise from the judging panel as his emotional dad Jeff Brazier watched from the audience.
Shirley said the actor’s energy was “absolutely endearing” and went on to praise his footwork.
Elsewhere, Les Dennis brought the levity to the first live show with his dance partner Nancy XU.
The presenter performed a Tango to Don’t You Want Me by the Human League, but despite his efforts, he landed at the bottom of the leaderboard.
After their performance, fans became distracted by blood on Nancy’s neck as the pair spoke to Claudia Winkleman.
Viewers were quick to comment on the dancer’s post to ask if she was OK.
Many suggested Nancy could’ve caught her earring during the routine, which led to the bleeding, however she is yet to address her injury.
As ever, no contestants were sent home last weekend, with the first elimination arriving after next week.
Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday at 6.20pm on BBC One.
