The Strictly Come Dancing semi-finalists this year were off the charts amazing. How these couples performed two dances each to such a high standard astounds me. Saturday night was explosive!

All the couples turned it up to a level beyond any Strictly semi-finals I’ve ever seen.

My mouth hit the floor after seeing HRVY and Janette [Manrara’s] Charleston to a song from the soundtrack LaLa Land. It literally left me speechless. HRVY had incredible swivel action, he showed perfect form as well as personality.

Their perfect score reflects just how unbelievably polished this dance was. And the Rhumba as their other chosen dance was charming, elegant and quiet with stunning production.

I felt the magic they were trying to create. Yes, it may not have been the most advanced male Rhumba technique we’ve seen but I think it was a very very good effort.

HRVY’s arm lines were soft and accentuated in the right places he partnered Janette beautifully to make her to do all the extra spectacular moves and he looked like he was really enjoying himself.

It was a tough dance – there’s a reason why you don’t see many Rhumba’s and that’s because it’s so hard the pros like to avoid it due to how exposing it can be. I really enjoyed it, for me I would have liked to have seen more volume through chest and shoulders and more control through his leading frame. But like I say a very very good effort. I pray these two are in the final.

Maisie [Smith] and Gorka [Marquez’s] Couples Choice was very cool, very smooth and very together. I feel that the Couples Choice dances really bring out the the best in the celebrities, Maisie looked completely her element and was a lovely contrast was to see Maisie in her Viennese Waltz – her diversity is extremely impressive, there isn’t one dance Maisie has done that has let her down.

She was stunning, delicate, soft, and extremely in sync once again. One of the most consistent females I’ve ever seen. Maisie’s changing of direction was flawless her frame and extension right throughout to her head was consistently perfect. I was also really impressed by Maisie’s footwork, it was an all rounder.

As usual Ranvir [Singh] looked incredibly beautiful and had so much energy and personality that the Jive needs facially however, I felt this dance was sadly not Ranvir’s dance.

There was no pumping action through Ranvir’s knees, her weight wasn’t over the standing leg it was behind which made it look a little sluggish and flat footed for me – I like to see high knees, weight on the balls of the feet and lots off length through the centre up to the head to create a lightness that Jive needs for sharp accentuated actions.

Ranvir’s Waltz was much better but not to her usual standard of execution.

Week eight is much harder than any other week even harder than the final in my opinion. It’s a real shock to some celebrity’s systems to do two dances in once week and can make or break a journey. Ranger had stunning choreography and the performance was beautifully danced, I just felt nerves may have got in the way for Ranvir truly expressing herself in her Waltz routine.

Jamie [Laing] has found his rhythm in this competition. He is confident, exciting and well rehearsed! He’s giving it so so much he really does deserve to be in the semi-finals.

His Quickstep was fab! I loved the country theme – it was such fun. And his timing has improved out of sight and he has so much to give. He’s energetic, enthusiastic and I have to say he really held his own in this semi-final. I loved this dance.

Their Salsa was also very exciting two strong dances for the semi which I think could work in their favour. Great lifts, nice hip action in places, feet could do with a lot more attention but he effortlessly executing all lifts. Jaime brings such joy and his clearly having the time of his life as am I watching his Strictly journey strengthen and grown more and more each week.

Bill [Bailey] came out attacking a little too much for my liking. The Tango is supposed to be powerful from the floor up I felt it was the other way around which created a lot of balance issues and footwork issues.

It just wasn’t Bills best dance, unfortunately. It was attacked externally instead of internally. I really wanted to love this but it just left me a little flat.

And Bill’s other dance, The Charleston, was full of Charleston character – cheeky, fun, exaggerated. I was so impressed with how natural Bill looked in this dance.

I loved the connection between Oti [Mabuse] and Bill. There were a few timing issues and Bill struggles with the cow tail move of which there were quite a few danced in this routine but I’m being extra picky now its semi-final week. That aside I was very happy he had the chance to dance this on Strictly. And I hope to see Bill and Oti in the final, I think his been amazing throughout, well done!!

Now who will it be in the final… I will be watching this space eagerly. For me I think we will definitely be seeing Maisie and HRVY, it’s a close call with the other 3 celebs after these semi-final performances, but whoever it is they will need to come out firing and enjoy every second of their last week on Strictly Come Dancing. Well done to all the semi-finalists.
