Lorraine Kelly, 61, shared her dismay after BBC podcast presenter Deborah James expressed her frustration over Covid rules, as she told followers she was not allowed to have any visitors. The You, Me and the Big C star, 39, who has been living with stage four bowel cancer since she was diagnosed in December 2016, told her followers on Twitter that she was having a “rough time”.

Just days ago, the mother-of-two revealed that she had returned to hospital with “spiking fevers” amid her cancer battle.

Deborah hit out at the “ridiculous” Covid rules which she claimed didn’t appear to apply to football supporters.

Her comments come after the podcast host spent her third night in hospital where she said she was not allowed to have any visitors.

Lorraine reached out to the presenter as she shared her thoughts on Covid’s social-distancing rules.

In view of her 30,000 followers, Deborah penned: “I think I’m done with the ridiculous ‘rules’. It’s my 3rd night in hospital.

“I’ve spent too long here recently. I see everyone jumping on each other to celebrate the football. I’m not allowed any visitor in to help me through a rough time.”

She finished: “Enough is enough #MentalHealthMatters.”

Taking to the micro-blogging site, Lorraine took the opportunity to respond to Deborah’s candid tweet.

In view of her 649,000 followers, she retweeted the message, adding: “Unfair. Agreed.”

Government restrictions on Covid are currently still in place but most legal restrictions are expected to be lifted in England from July 19.

To help stop the spread of Covid-19, most hospitals have stopped or significantly limited visits.

Most hospitals do allow up to two visitors but individuals must check their local practice’s website beforehand.

Deborah’s tweet comes just weeks after the mother-of-two heartbreakingly shared that her “drugs have stopped working” and her “liver is failing”, leading her to have a stent fitted and starting chemotherapy once again.

Speaking from her hospital bed, Deborah said: “Hey team, how are we?

“Hello from hospital again where I am currently being pumped full of antibiotics and loads of fluids just to get my fever down.

“Essentially, when you’re on chemo your immune system is a little bit wrecked,” she added.

The star previously revealed that she was starting chemotherapy again after her liver function improved after having a stent fitted.

Continuing, Deborah said: “So, as soon as you spike a fever you have to go in and then there are protocols that kind of say we have to get it down, treat it.

“So I’m feeling tired and a little bit fed up with being here again.”

The media personality said that her soaring fever meant that she was forced to miss her daughter, Eloise’s assembly and that medical professionals had yet to determine the cause of her temperature.
