Annabel Croft opens up about Strictly on Good Morning Britain
Strictly Come Dancing star Annabel Croft has broken her silence on social media following her heartbreaking tribute to her late husband Mel Coleman on Saturday night’s show.
The former tennis player, 57, wept as she remembered her beloved partner before dancing her Couple’s Choice lyrical routine with professional dancer Johannes Radebe, 36.
Annabel’s late husband and father to their three children Charlie, Amber and Lilly, died in May, aged 60, a few weeks after he was diagnosed with stage three cancer.
Taking to Instagram on Sunday afternoon, Annabel reflected on a “special night” as she thanked fans, friends, and family for their unwavering support.
“What a special night. Thank you so much for all the kind comments and support, particularly from everyone in my Strictly family – I couldn’t do this experience without all of you, especially @johannesradebe who has the ability to consistently make me laugh,” she wrote.

“A special shout out to @ashleighhunter83 and @arduinobertoncello who created such beautiful choreography and the wardrobe team for designing such a beautiful dress. Sending everyone lots of love xxx.” (sic)
Prior to her performance on Saturday, Annabel revealed: “This week it’s Couple’s Choice and we’re dancing a lyrical dance to the song Wings by Birdy. I think this song is definitely a tribute to my husband Mel. It couldn’t be anything other than that.
“As soon as we met I was just taken by his massive smile and his great sense of humour. We were supposed to have our 30th wedding anniversary this year and I never ever saw what’s happened coming.
“He got diagnosed on January 31st and he was told he didn’t have very long. I don’t think I could survive without the children.”

Their daughter Lily then told her mother: “I don’t think I recognise you from when you first started Strictly to now. You are so amazing now.
“My dad always loved watching Strictly. He adored watching Johannes. He’s definitely the angel she needed as much as he did, too.”
Annabel took Johannes to a bench in Richmond Park where she and Mel would walk to every day and sit on. She burst into tears and told Johannes about the wonderful memories they had together.
The dance moved head judge Shirley Ballas to tears as well as host Claudia Winkleman.
They scored an eight from Craig Revel-Horwood, and nines from Shirley Balls, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke which gave them a total of 35 points out of 40.
Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday on BBC One from 6:30pm.
