Who Is YouTuber ShootForLove?

In an effort to inspire confidence in the COVID-19 vaccine, Global Citizen is putting together a concert on Saturday, May 8 (via Kiss 95.1). The Vax Live: The Concert to Reunite the World will be hosted by Selena Gomez and feature musical performances from Jennifer Lopez, Foo Fighters, and recent Oscar winner H.E.R. There will also be appearances by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle along with President Joe Biden (via BBC).

When talking about Vax Live, Gomez said, “This is a historic moment to encourage people around the world to take the COVID-19 vaccine when it becomes available to them.” According to The Hollywood Reporter, the event will be broadcast on ABC, CBS, and Fox. An extended version of the concert will be live-streamed on YouTube as well. In addition to the musical performances, the YouTube version of the event will also feature some of the top content creators on the platform. One of which will be ShootForLove (or Shoot for Love, 슛포러브).

ShootForLove are soccer content creators looking to make a positive difference

Since this is a global event, Vax Live has invited content creators from around the world. ShootForLove are YouTubers from South Korea who ask the question, “Can soccer really change the world?” With that in mind, they have two goals for their YouTube channel: To create great sports content and to help people through that content.

One way that ShootForLove (슛포러브) is making a difference is by donating to charities through soccer. One of their first YouTube videos from 2014 features a penalty kick donation campaign. By scoring one goal, ShootForLove would donate 5,000 won (Korean currency) to a child in need. Most of their videos are soccer-based, and some even have different athletes attempting cool tricks. For instance, a recent video from 2020 has retired footballer Kim Hyung-bum attempting to open a closed door by kicking a soccer ball into it hard enough (via YouTube). While it’s unclear what ShootForLove will be doing for Vax Live: The Concert to Reunite the World, you can bet they’ll be doing something related to “the beautiful game.”
