Celebrity memoirs are quite popular these days, and rightfully so. Many fans love getting intimate details from the lives of famous people. Memoirs seem to serve as a satisfying way for the public to hear what celebrities have to say about the various events in their lives.
A new celebrity on the memoir train is Priyanka Chopra, who has had a career spanning 20 years. It’s clear Chopra has a lot to say about her life, but it seems not every fan is excited. In fact, some people even think Chopra’s memoir might be “boring.”
Priyanka Chopra has been working hard during the pandemic
The recent coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has forced lots of folks around the world to self-isolate at home. Celebrities are no exception, and Chopra has been spending most of her time with her husband, Nick Jonas, in their Los Angeles house.
However, just because Chopra is not working on film sets much these days does not mean she has been lazy. She told Vogue in April 2020 that she and Jonas have been doing a lot of “creative” work at home.
“Nick and I have used the quarantine not only to spend time with each other, but also to sharpen our creative skills and to write and develop projects we want to produce,” Chopra shared. “We find a movie or a filmmaker we want to watch every night just for inspiration.”
Chopra recently finished writing her memoir
It seems another thing Chopra managed to do during lockdown was finishing her memoir, called Unfinished.
She announced her plan for her memoir back in 2018, writing on Instagram, “I’ve always wanted to write a book, but the timing never felt right. With each opportunity that presented itself, my first instinct was always to wait…because I wasn’t (and I’m still not) finished.”
Chopra continued, “But looking back on my life as a public person, I’m super proud of what I’ve done and where my life is right now. I’ve realized you don’t have to be finished to tell your story, and that sometimes life’s greatest lessons are taught along the ride…when you’re still figuring things out…when you’re #unfinished.”
In early August 2020, Chopra revealed that she has finally finished writing her memoir. She shared on Twitter, “Unfinished is finished! Just about sent in the final manuscript! Wheee! Cannot wait to share it with you all. Every word in my memoir comes from a place of introspection and reflection into my life.”

While there are no doubt fans who are excited for Unfinished to be released, not everyone thinks it will contain as many juicy details as expected. For example, fans who have followed her since her Bollywood days would like to hear stories about it, but there are questions about whether that fits with Chopra’s current image.
A user on Reddit wrote, “She honestly has such an interesting and messy backstory especially in her Bollywood career, but I doubt she will spill about any of that. I think it’ll be one of those self made, global icon inspiring memoirs where she talks about her journey and struggles to make it in Bollywood and Hollywood. And what she’s doing now to help others. Which is fine, but boring.”
Meanwhile, another person added, “At 38, my guess is she hopes to squeeze out another 10+ years out of [Bollywood]. This will be a whitewashed version of how ‘welcoming’ the industry was to the ‘small town girl’ with no ‘industry connections’. The real memoir, like someone else said, will come after 70.”
Chopra has not revealed when her memoir will be published. In any case, it seems no one really knows for sure what Chopra will address until the book is released.
