Apple Launches MacBook Pro With New M3, M3 Pro and M3 Max Chips

Apple is bringing the new M3 chip series to the MacBook Pro. The laptop is being made faster, more powerful and more efficient thanks to the addition of three new chip options across the M3 family.

The new flagship chip family, the M3, will be made up of the standard M3, the M3 Pro and the M3 Max.

Apple lauds the 14 and 16-inch Mac Pros equipped with the M3 as functional computers for students and creatives. Those devices start at $1,599 USD and come with 128GB of storage.

Once upgraded to the M3 Pro chip, Apple says that the device is 40% faster than the 16‑inch model with M1 Pro, along with three times as fast as the newest Intel-based MacBook. Devices start at $1,999 USD.

The M3 Max, meanwhile, is the most advanced of the chips, albeit, also the most expensive. Those Mac Pros start at $2,499 USD and are billed as being designed for “machine learning programmers, 3D artists and video editors.”

Along with announcing the M3 chip family, Apple also debuted a new colorway for the Mac Pro: “Space Black.” The shade is only available for those who opt for the pricer M3 Pro and M3 Max chips.

“There is nothing quite like MacBook Pro. With the remarkable power-efficient performance of Apple silicon, up to 22 hours of battery life, a stunning Liquid Retina XDR display, and advanced connectivity, MacBook Pro empowers users to do their life’s best work,” Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Engineering John Ternus said.

“With the next generation of M3 chips, we’re raising the bar yet again for what a pro laptop can do. We’re excited to bring MacBook Pro and its best-in-class capabilities to the broadest set of users yet, and for those upgrading from an Intel-based MacBook Pro, it’s a game-changing experience in every way.”

The new MacBook Pro with the M3 chip is available for order now and will hit stores and begin arriving to customers on November 7.
