Maison Margiela’s Distressed Knitted Jumper Is a Nod to Its Roots

Maison Margiela’s recent Fall/Winter 2021 ICONS collection was a stern lesson in genderless staples and formalwear. From elevated trench coats to relaxed silk suiting, the John Galliano-led house created something entirely new while remaining true to the Margiela DNA.

The house’s recently-released distressed Knitted Jumper — which is available via HBX — is testament to this. Crafted with a wool-cotton shaggy effect knit, this relaxed garment boasts a ribbed crew neck collar and dropped shoulders, with a geometric patterned intarsia design.

The cherry on top of the cake arrives in the form of distressed detailing across the garment, which not only catches the attention, but effortlessly plays into the Maison Margiela roots.
