Matt Hancock dives face-first into mud after crawling like a crab during a brutal SAS: Who Dares Wins challenge.

The former health secretary, 44, is back on our screens and continuing his reality TV stint after coming in third place on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

Starring alongside the likes of Gareth Gates, Melinda Messenger and James Argent, Hancock’s stint on the programme has already been ripped apart by Good Morning Britain’s Susanna Reid and even the Channel 4 voiceover, as we’ve seen him punched by Jermaine Pennant and admit to ‘weak leadership’ during the pandemic.

In Sunday’s episode of the reality programme, viewers will be treated to Hancock face-planting straight into mud, during a vicious beasting.

The punishment sees all the recruits being asked to drop to their knees and crawl through the mud, all while carrying the heavy weights on their backs.

As Hancock works his weigh through the mud on all fours, DS Mark ‘Billy’ Billingham yells at him: ‘F**king pathetic you’re like a crab!’

He’s then sent back to the start and ordered to do it all over again, but can’t quite manage without tripping over straight to the ground.

‘Get up you f**king buffoon,’ the DS yell at him.

‘F**king clown.’

Hancock tries to wipe the mud covering his face, as he’s screamed at to keep his head up while trying to keep the weight of the pack on.

Hancock meanwhile in an interview: ‘The last few years I’ve been mentally tested, I’ve been emotionally tested, but the physical test of this course is about as big as it gets.

‘I hope that I rise to the challenge, it’s going to be tough.’

In another clip, the politician is seen explaining his career to Towie star James Argent.

When asked what Boris Johnson would think of him taking part on the programme, Hancock chuckles: ‘No idea, I haven’t talked to him. I have no idea what he’ll think.’

This comes after Hancock confessed he regrets his ‘weak leadership’ at the end of the pandemic during a savage SAS interrogation.

The disgraced ex-MP resigned from his position in Johnson’s cabinet after breaching Covid social distancing rules by kissing a colleague in government offices.

He addressed his affair with now-girlfriend Gina Coladangelo during the new series’ opening episode, after he was pulled into the first chat with the course instructors.

As he first reflected on his biggest challenge in government, Hancock said: ‘I was managing a very difficult scenario in a professional sense and thought I’d done a good job.

‘And then I fell in love with someone who I’d known since university and worked closely with in government.’

However, the DS were not letting him get off that lightly, with Chris Oliver suggesting that his behaviour made it seem like he thought he was ‘above’ the rules he imposed on the rest of the country in lockdown.

‘The truth is I was very careful to not break the law,’ Hancock responded, insisting that the guidance he went against was not ‘legally binding’.

Although he appeared to have a hint of tears glimmering in his eyes, the MP held his resolve and even dared to try and interrupt his interrogation twice to defend himself – but was quickly shut down.

When he was then accused of showing ‘weak leadership’ in the pandemic, he agreed, adding: ‘I regret the lack of leadership at the end.’

Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins continues at 9pm on Channel 4 on Sunday.
