Piet Reunites With Oakley for a Tribute to Brazillian Subcultures

Piet has once again joined hands with sports performance eyewear specialist, Oakley for a new collaborative collection. This time around, the Brazillian streetwear label pays homage to its roots, while looking deep into Oakley’s archives to develop pieces that encapsulate the zeitgeist and aesthetics of Brazillian subcultures.

Piet’s creative director, Pedro Andrade notes, “Over the next few years, we aim to build even stronger narratives about the real codes that gave rise to this unique style on the streets of Brazil.” His inspiration boasts an unusual mix of references from the likes of the favelas, coastal communities, Grau, and Sarro, all strung together by music genres such as funk, surfwear, and electronic. “Brazilian streetwear can’t be explained in words alone, it’s very complex, which is why it needs to be shown in images and products. It’s time for Brazilians to feel proud of this aesthetic,” adds Andrade.

Comprising a total of 20 products, the collection is made up of a mix of apparel, accessories, and footwear with prices ranging from $20 – $280 USD. Notable highlights include the Eye Jacket, Radar EV, Oakley’s Monster Dog character motif, archival items like the Oakley Beret, and the newly imagined slip-on Teeth Sneaker.

On December 8, the collection will be unveiled at a special pop-up in São Paulo, along with select international retailers such as HBX. Starting December 11, the collection will also be available via Piet, Oakley, as well authorized stockists in Brazil.
