ROTOL SS21 Imbues Casual Militaria With Complex Patterns

In line with its previous offerings, ROTOL‘s Spring/Summer 2021 collection is a twist on militaristic tropes that inform much of the Japanese brand’s design ethos. These range from expanded field jackets to updated cargo pants, accompanied by familiar ’90s accents and gently formal cues.

A host of baggy T-shirts appear throughout the new offering, occasionally elevated by stripe patterns or overdyed treatments and then layered beneath relaxed cardigans, blazers or anoraks executed in weather-resistant fabrication. Quick-drying technical fabrics join organic cottons and linens in a mélange of styles beholden to no one era, juxtaposing earth tones and versatile shades of black against all-over patterns.

With wide shorts, cropped pants and jogger styles anchoring the loose garments above, the wearer is encouraged to experiment with stacked garments; for instance, oversized short-sleeved shirts sit atop long-sleeved tees and one look sees a short jacket layered over a pair of longer, similarly-hued shirts

Stockists like LINKS, Kikunobu and 10DEPT will launch ROTOL’s SS21 collection in the coming weeks.

Elsewhere in Japan, Evisen Skateboards and BEAMS Plus each introduced their own SS21 collections.
