Social Status and Nike to Serve Up a Duo of Milk Carton-Inspired Dunk Mid Collaborations

After teaming up with Nike for a special in-store exclusive colorway of the Waffle One, Social Status is reconnecting with the Beaverton sportswear brand for a brand new collection of Dunks. Four offerings are included in this new team-up, two of which are Dunk Lows designed for pre-school and toddlers while the Dunk Mids are made for the adults.

According to early reports, the inspiration for this impending collection is inspired by the free lunches that kids who live in underserved and inner city communities receive during the Summer time. Therefore, both parties here bring milk carton-inspired colors and playful packaging to the fittingly decorate the silhouette.

The first pair takes on an almost strawberry milk-type motif as various shades of pink dress up its overlays as well as the leather toe boxes, quarters and collars. Swooshes have modified with a thicker, TPU gel shape and the laces arrive in rope form. To play into the milk theme, the materials of the shoe — which include Nike Sportswear, Social Status, YV Velvet, nubuck and more — are listed out on the medial side as if they were the ingredients of the shoe. Down below, the midsoles are given an ivory finish while the treading finishes things off in an olive hue. Expiration “Sell By Fall 2021” tags are also planted inside the kicks which essentially hint at a release in the coming months.

Its release sibling sees through to a more chocolate-y vibe. A creamy hue lines the toe boxes and quarters, and comes complemented with rustic brown overlays. Chocolate milk-like browns touch down on the collars and overlays that neighbor the throat, while potent jelly pink Swooshes stand out on the lateral and medial sides. Bottoms are presented with off-white midsoles and bold blue outsoles.

Packaging takes these kicks to an even higher level as the boxes are decorated with retro co-branding and box contents on the sides.

Early reports have these slated to drop in August, but Nike has yet to confirm this.
