Stella Artois and menswear designer Martine Rose have joined forces for a collection inspired by the belgian-style lager brand’s rich heritage. The capsule, which consists of clothing and accessories, is also informed by UK’s pub subcultures, specifically the culture within Cousins Pool Club. The iconic snooker hall and bar is frequented by Rose and was chosen as the backdrop for the collection’s editorial and video lookbook. Stella Artois’ rich heritage is also represented within the capsule, as seen through the vintage-style logos, use of labels and bottle caps, and lived-in aesthetic of the pieces.
British-Jamaican menswear designer Martine Rose continues to be a bastion of creative hope for underdogs and nonconformists in the UK. Her menswear designs have always been rooted in counterculture, often alluding to the punk, football and pub scenes within the country. In 2021, Rose’s collection took inspiration from beer towels, and she upcycled beer mats to create wearable pieces with patchwork flair. Now, Rose has been tapped by Stella Artois, and together they fuse the worlds of beer and fashion for a collection featuring a T-Shirt, buttoned shirt, and cap. Two hero pieces, which consist of a jacket and denim jeans, are also part of the collaborative launch.

Included in the collection is a white T-shirt printed with an artful flip of Stella Artois’ bottle label and Martine Rose’s brand logo. The vintage aspect of the tee is furthered by the “‘90-’91 Autumn & Winter Collection” stamped over the design. Elsewhere, the oversized buttoned shirt is printed all over with a newspaper collage alluding to the topic of the collaboration. The cap in the range also displays vintage flair with its raw edged exposed brim.

As for the special edition pieces in the collection, one of the hero items is a pair of jeans featuring a worn-in look. The pair comes in a bleached blue wash and features rips, repairs and Stella Artois x Martine Rose patches. The vintage bomber jacket within the collaboration is the pièce de résistance. The military-inspired outerwear is crafted from smooth tan leather and fully adorned with Stella bottle caps. Pushing the boundaries of this hand-made style further, the bottle caps were hammered down to place and meticulously shaped for an imperfect look. The bottle caps’ patina is fully highlighted to authentically translate the jacket’s love-worn finish. Finally, Martine Rose lined the jacket with patchwork Stella Artois and Martine Rose logo-printed beer towels.
For the full look and feel of the Stella Artois x Martine Rose collection, a complete lookbook and video editorial accompanies the collection. Cousins Pool Club was the location used for the presentation where pool players are seen enjoying a game wearing the collaborative range. While other items are in view, the hero item which is the bottle cap-adorned bomber jacket is hard to miss. More importantly, the vibe and spirit of the lookbook and editorial enhances the vintage-direction of the collection and the creative counterculture attitude of the collab.
With Martine Rose’s unyielding vision for capturing the spirit of rebellion, the collab highlights the power and influence of subcultures through a vintage-meets-modern approach.
