Susanna Reid has marked her return to Good Morning Britain with a big transformation.
The presenter, who’s been a part of the ITV programme since 2014, was welcomed back to the studio on Monday morning to host alongside Ed Balls.
Minutes after the co-anchors marked the start of the week, Ed, 56, pointed out a big change that Susanna, 52, had made, shortly after her holiday was hit by the recent air traffic control outage.
‘Good to be back!’ Susanna told their audience, as her presenting partner then said: ‘I love your hair.’
‘Thank you very much indeed! Yes, I’ve had a few inches chopped off. I feel a little lighter. Not quite sure what I’m doing after being off all summer. Mildly got caught up in the air traffic control meltdown.’
Susanna continued, explaining that she ended up having to stay in France for an extra day… but she didn’t mind the extended vacation.
‘Got stuck in France for an extra 24 hours. Can’t complain, to be honest,’ she added.
‘It’s just an extra night, an extra dinner. But I don’t know… has everybody got back yet? ‘Cause I know that some people had not been offered flights until today.’
Susanna urged GMB viewers to get in touch with them if they’re still stuck abroad due to the air traffic issues.
‘My sympathies,’ she stated. ‘As I say, we’re very, very lucky. Just got caught up for a couple of hours.’
She then switched gears on the programme, mentioning how ‘interesting’ it was being back with Ed at the start of September, considering he used to be education minister.
Several people on X (formerly Twitter) praised Susanna on her haircut, as one wrote: ‘Hope you enjoyed your summer holidays – looks good and suits you!’
‘That’s how I want my hair to look! Going to take that image to the hairdressers and ask for a Susanna!’ another remarked.
GMB missed out on a nomination at this week’s National Television Awards in the daytime category, with nods instead going to The Chase, This Morning, Loose Women, The Repair Shop.
Meanwhile, Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly were – of course – recognised once again in the TV presenter category, alongside Alison Hammond, Bradley Walsh, Claudia Winkleman and Martin Lewis.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
