Tom Brady Becomes First Player To Throw 600 Touchdowns in NFL History

This Sunday night football saw Tom Brady once again making history with his 600th career touchdown pass. The historic moment was recorded as a nine-yard pass to Mike Evans in the match against the Chicago Bears, placing Tampa Bay up 21-0.

Brady has now become the first-ever play in the history of the NFL to throw 600 touchdowns in his career. The feat was solidified with a Buccaneers 38-3 win against the Bears with Brady finishing four touchdown passes, bringing his total TD passes to 602. The match was also Brady’s 97th game with three or more touchdown passes and his 37th game with four or more. With these additional feats, Brady has now tied Drew Brees for tops in NFL history.

After the 9-yard pass, Evans gave away the history-making football to a fan in the stands. However, the team was able to negotiate with the fan to get the ball back to Brady for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. According to CBS, the fan received a signed jersey in return. When Brady was asked about hitting the 600 mark, he humbly deferred to his teammates, noting that it is nothing without the effort of everyone involved:

“I believe I’m just very lucky to play with so many great players and teammates over the years. I just try to do my job as best I can. I have amazing people on the receiving end of those over 22 seasons. Nothing in this sport is done as an individual, and in the end I’m very grateful for being able to play as long as I have and play with so many great receivers.”

The win against the Bears gives Tampa Bay a record of 6-1 for the first time in the history of the franchise. With Rob Gronkowski out and Antonio Brown out due to injuries, Brady has looked to Evans and Chris Godwin to make his touchdown passes. After the match, Brady also spoke about the young fan who held up a sign saying, “Tom Brady helped me beat brain cancer.” Take a look at what he had to say below.
