After staying silent on drama, Zayn Malik has sat down for his first interview in six years and spilled all on what really happened with Yolanda and Gigi Hadid.
The 30-year-old gave some sweet insight into his relationship with daughter Khai, who he shares with ex Gigi, 28.
Zayn dated the American model off and on again from 2015 with Khai born in 2020, shortly afterwards the pair split for good.
In September 2021, the former One Direction member pleaded no contest to four counts of harassment against Gigi’s mum, Yolanda.
Courts heard that Zayn pushed Yolanda into a dresser and called her a ‘f***ing Dutch s**t.’
Now Zayn has called the incident ‘family issues’, having completed 360 days of probation as well as completing an anger management class.
‘I don’t get involved when people talk online. My most valuable thing for me is time and I don’t want to be justifying myself,’ the singer said on the Call Her Daddy podcast.
‘I knew what the situation was and I knew what happened and the people involved know what happened and that’s all that matters.
‘I didn’t want to bring attention and I didn’t want to get a negative back and fourth with her [or] any sort of narrative for my daughter to eventually read.’
At the time Gigi asked for privacy for the sake of their daughter while Zayn posted a statement confirming there had been an incident, although he denied striking Yolanda.
Both parents have maintained that they only want what’s best for their daughter and families.
Zayn continued: ‘I believe I dealt with it in the best way and that’s all that needs to be said. It was a lot of negativity.
‘They’re family issues I’d rather keep in the family. I’m very hands on with my child, if I could have 60% I would take it.’
It was only his relationship with Gigi that the star spoke about, he also touched on his decision to break up One Direction in favour of a solo career.
The Pillowtalk singer explained: ‘I completely, selfishly wanted to be the first person to go and make my own record.’
Doting dad Zayn dedicated a lot of the interview to talking about his little girl, now 2, saying she had brought ‘colour back’ to his life.
After an extended hiatus, Zayn is clearly ready to step back into the spotlight and has also teased a brand-new music video sending his fans into total meltdown.
He totally wiped his Instagram account before posting a video of himself sitting on a motorcycle and revving the engine then his helmet visor snapped shut.
A link also appeared on his Instagram page that led to a website offering fans the chance to ‘presave’ his music on Spotify and Apple Music.
It appears Zayn could be back and ready to take on his solo career once more.
