A bride-to-be has revealed her unusual career as a love rat catcher, saying that she ‘hunts scammers, escorts and prostitutes’ for a living.

Shaps, from Lancashire, will appear on tonight’s TLC’s Say Yes to the Dress, which documented her journey to finding her perfect wedding dress with the help of superstar style expert Gok Wan.

And in the episode, Shaps reveals  to Gok she works for a sugar daddy dating agency, which leaves him a state of shock.

Shaps, from Lancashire, will appear on tonight’s TLC’s Say Yes to the Dress, which documented her journey to finding her perfect wedding dress with the help of superstar style expert Gok Wan.

‘I hunt scammers and escorts and prostitutes for a living,’ she says, before Gok asks if she works for the police.

Correcting him, she goes on: ‘No, I work for a sugar daddy, slash secret affairs, agency.

‘My job is to look at their profiles, read their conversations, check out their pictures and make sure they’re not doing anything illegal or anything they shouldn’t be doing.’

‘But you’re getting married!’ Gok adds.

But Shaps says that her career makes her feel closer to her fiancé Christian.

‘It makes me feel so much more secure in my relationship,’ she says.

‘I know that what I have is so honest and so transparent and that’s really rare and that’s not the norm anymore’.

‘Some people find it really strange that my job is about reading secret conversations about people having extra martial affairs, yet I’m about to get married.

‘But for me it makes me more grateful for the relationship I have with Christian’.

Shaps, who is full of confidence, lays down the law in tonight’s episode telling Gok Wan exactly what she wants in a wedding dress for her big day.

‘I’m not a fan of all the bling because I’m over the top enough as it is,’ she says. ‘I need a dress that is big and over the top and as loud as my personality!’

‘Gok is certainly going to have his work cut out for him,’ Christian says.

‘Out of all the presents that I’ve ever bought her, she’s only kept one.’

Getting down to business, Shaps tells Gok that she wants something either really fitted or really massive. And with a handsome budget of £5,000, there’s plenty of wiggle room for Gok to work with.

Going big to begin with, Gok presents Shaps with a jaw-dropping princess dress.

But instantly, and true to form, Shaps is clearly underwhelmed with Gok’s choice of a huge white gown with a cinched waist.

‘It’s definitely not what I pictured for myself, but I’m open to trying it,’ she says.

But away from Gok, Shaps lets her true feelings be known. ‘I’m nodding and I’m smiling and I’m being polite, and in my head, I’m thinking ‘don’t be rude,’ but this isn’t my dress,’ she says sharply.

Just as she is about to try the dress on, Gok takes the opportunity to ask Shaps where all her confidence has come from.

‘You look like you have bucket loads of it,’ he says.

Shaps, who is full of confidence, lays down the law in tonight’s episode telling Gok Wan exactly what she wants in a wedding dress for her big day.

‘When I was young, I wanted to be the really slim, skinny, long-legged girl,’ she says

‘As soon as I embraced what I had I instantly felt so much better. I’ve put in a lot of time and work learning to love my body.’

But when given a ‘huge fountain of material,’ as she puts it herself, Shaps grits her teeth and tries it on. But opening her eyes for the big reveal, Shaps’ face paints a different story entirely.

‘Oh, I really didn’t see myself in a dress like this, but I love it,’ she gasps. ‘In the space of 10 minutes I have gone from quiet terror to oh my God, this is the best day ever!’

Downstairs, Shaps’ friends Ritchie and Regine are equally in awe.

‘This is what I kind of imagined you in!’ Regine says.

But Shaps is unconvinced by her entourage’s praise. ‘I could be stood in a sack with a ribbon tied around my waist, and Richie would be going, “oh, darling, you look amazing!’ He is my biggest cheerleader.”‘

With that, Gok decides to move onto something fitted. But just like before, Shaps isn’t thrilled with the dress presented to her.

‘I just see meh, and I don’t associate myself with meh,’ she says. ‘I associate myself with pin-up, ’40s glamour!’

This time, Gok cottons on Shaps’ true feelings. ‘You’ve even started to pull yourself back a little bit!’ he laughs.

Again, putting her trust in Gok’s process, Shaps is mesmerised by the results once the dress is on.

‘I love overly curvy, glamorous, sexy kind of sassy style, and when I’m stood here in that dress this is as close as I’m ever going to feel like that,’ she says.

But downstairs, Shaps’ entourage are split. ‘I really, really don’t like it,’ Regine says.

Surprised and disappointed with the reaction, Shaps and Gok head back upstairs.

Sleuthing aside, Gok and Shaps appear to be onto a winner with dress number three, an elegant off the shoulder fishtail dress.

‘Even if Ritchie and Regine don’t like it, I don’t think it’s going to change my mind,’ she says happily.

‘I’ve already fallen in love.’

Thankfully, Shaps’s entourage are just as smitten as she is. ‘I absolutely love it, I’ve got tears in my eyes!’ Regine says.

‘I would never have put you in that and it looks incredible,’ Ritchie adds. After a long day in the boutique, all that is left for Shaps to do is say yes to the dress!
