Elaborate bath time routine Queen and Prince Charles use to avoid working class showers

Our Royal Family keeps squeaky clean by taking regular baths and avoiding showers like the plague!

And the reason is a controversial one – according to a royal expert, they think showers are for the working class!

Craig Brown, author of Ma’am Darling: 99 Glimpses of Princess Margaret described her morning routine in writing.

W Magazine uncovered the details. He wrote: “She [Margaret] always took a bath because she and other royals believe ‘showers are for people who are rushing out the door to get to work’.”

Apparently the Princess would never rush a bath and enjoy a soak for at least an hour.

The Queen and Prince Charles' upper class bath time routines are very specific. From tepid temperatures to perfectly positioned pants, we’ve got the details…

You won’t catch the Queen preparing her own bath each morning.

Daily Mail’s royal correspondent Brian Hoey shared that like many Royals, Her Majesty has a maid at hand to draw her bath. The maid will use a “wooden-cased thermometer” to check that the water isn’t scalding hot or too cold.

Back in 1999, Princess Margaret burnt her feet in a bath of red hot water and she ended up needing a wheelchair to move around at times – ouch.

So the Queen is very wary of bath time to avoid the same fate as her sister.

It’s also the maid’s job to fill the tub to just the right level – Her Majesty isn’t soaking up to her chin like us!

The Queen’s son Prince Charles has followed in her footsteps, but he’s added a few more bizarre rules for his staff to follow.

According to Paul Burrell, Princess Diana’s former butler, the Prince of Wales requires a valet to prepare and check the temperature of his bath – it’s a very underwhelming heat!

In the Amazon documentary Serving the Royals: Inside the Firm , Mr Burrell shared: “The water temperature has to be just tepid, and only half full.”

And it doesn’t stop there.

Prince Charles requires the bath plug to face in a specific direction. His bath towel must be arranged to his taste and his underwear can’t be a crease out of place.

Mr Burrell added: “His underwear is folded in a certain way and his bath towel has to be placed in a certain fashion. When it comes to bathing, the bath plug has to be in a certain position.”

We’re not surprised the water’s getting cold by the time he gets in!
