Viewers were left impressed after an antiques-loving couple transformed a whole floor into a luxury master bedroom and huge en suite bathroom.
In last night’s episode of Channel 4 show Old House, New Home, George Clarke visited Leeds, West Yorkshire, where doctor Jawad Ahmed and his midwife wife Charlie had grand plans for their Victoria villa.
The young couple, who spent just £250k on the seven bedrooms home, had knocked through the wall between a living room and a double bedroom, which they planned to turn into a master en-suite with a his and hers bathroom containing a free-standing bath.
Keen to make the most of the 30k budget they had to transform the first floor, they admitted they wanted to make the bathroom the ‘Best in Leeds’.

George Clarke shared his sketches for the couple’s grand en suite, after they revealed they cut a huge hole in the wall just for a set of antique doors they found.
And the couple were pleased with the plans, which included a free-standing bath, original fireplace and a his and hers sink, as well as a shower.
Careful to keep the original features of the property, the couple got underway with the transformation.
‘The aim for the house is modern eclectic Victorian’, Charlie said as she revealed it was a ‘house for life’.
The couple even commissioned their own mural, calling the space ‘life changing’.
And returning to the property a few months later, George found the couple had gone £5,000 over budget to create the en suite of their dreams – complete with a free-standing bath, chandelier, elephant wall hanging and the original mantelpiece

And returning to the property a few months later, George found the couple had gone £5,000 over budget to create the en suite of their dreams.
The new space, complete with a personalised mural, chandeliers, a free-standing golden bath and a faux elephant head wall hanging even left George awe-struck.
Speaking about the new space, the couple said: ‘Going £5,000 over budget was worth every penny, we’re absolutely in love with it.’

Handing them a golden plaque, George awarded it the ‘Best bathroom in Leeds’, admitting to the thrilled couple: ‘This is the most opulent breathtaking bathroom I’ve seen’.
And George admitted they couple had perfectly mastered the mix of eclectic adornments, textures and colours, turning the floor into a nostalgic Victorian retreat with the right amount of luxury.

Taking to Twitter, viewers shared their enthusiasm for the conversion, with one writing: ‘Why I love old Victorian houses of West Yorkshire. That is a stunningly designed master en suite plus with authentic features – skirting, cornice, fireplace, windows.’
Another added: ‘Quite frankly the best bathroom i have ever seen’, while another said: ‘The bathroom in that property in Leeds was absolutely stunning. Very tastefully done.’
However others weren’t sure, with one tweeting: ‘Sorry but that bathroom is hideous. And that elephants head on the wall. Revolting!’.
