Holby City spoilers: Beka collapses after being poisoned by Jodie

As the staff of Holby City prepare to celebrate New Year’s Eve (and say good riddance to 2020), Jodie (Sian Reese-Williams) seems to have taken Sacha (Bob Barrett)’s daughter Beka (Francesca Barrett) under her wing.

They’re even having a drink at Albie’s together! But what Sacha and Beka don’t know is that Jodie has been adding a little something to Beka’s drinks.

When she collapses with violent stomach pains, Sacha thinks she’s just had a bit too much to drink. Will he work out what’s really wrong with his daughter – and that his girlfriend is the cause of it? And will it be in time to save Beka’s life?

Lucky Simpson (Vineeta Rishi) is still on Sacha’s case, trying to get him to open up about his grief over Essie. Will he be ready to talk about his feelings?

Kian (Ramin Karimloo) and Jac (Rosie Marcel) have enjoyed spending Christmas with each other, but as they prepare to work a double shift together Kian is acting strangely.

Jac wonders whether she’s pushing their relationship too fast, but Kian has other things on his mind – specifically that his pills are running out and his dealer, Sarah Jane, isn’t answering his calls. Can he keep his addiction a secret from Jac? And how will he cope if he can’t get any new supplies?

New F1s Jeong-Soo (Chan Woo Lim), Skylar (Phoebe Pryce) and Josh (Trieve Blackwood-Cambridge) work their first New Year’s Eve night shift on AAU, where it’s pandemonium and they’re thrown in at the deep end.

Josh is a little bored to be given an apparently mundane case to deal with – but as usual it’s the dull ones that turn out to be the most interesting. And Josh can always manage to distract himself with a spot of flirting – but will his advances be welcomed?

Nicky (Belinda Owusu) and Cameron (Nic Jackman) celebrate New Year together – but Nicky doesn’t seem to be very happy that she isn’t able to socialise with best friend Chloe (Amy Lennox). Could she be starting to think that romance with Cameron isn’t all she was hoping it would be? Surely not!

Sue Haasler is the author of five novels and the official BBC Holby City book, which you can read about here.
