I make a living carving lifelike faces into pumpkins – its earned me £800k

A crafty artist has shared how they've made a fortune by transforming pumpkins.

Alex Wer cannot stand the taste of pumpkins, but has more than £822,000 from carving special pictures into them.

From Pennywise, Batman, the Mandalorian to Eddie from Stranger Things and Harry Potter, the 56-year-old has made a living from dedicating his time to his intricate designs. He has now built up a fan base of almost 10,000 people on Instagram, where he posts his pumpkin carvings under the handle @ThePumpkinGeek.

Talking about his craft, Alex said: “I wanted to be the cool neighbour at Halloween and just started getting more detailed with my carving.

“My favourite design was for the movie The Hobbit. I won an award in Hollywood for it!”

Alex has racked up more than 8,000 fans on Instagram thanks to his pumpkin creations.

His followers often go wild over his designs, with his Batman one in particular impressing fans recently.

"That background and rain effect is so good," exclaimed one fan, as another added: "Love your work Alex!" A third chimed in: "That looks great," while a fourth added: "So amazing."

His Pennywise design also caused a stir ahead of Halloween, with one follower exclaiming: "I need this." Another fan called it "spectacular", while a third said they wanted one of their own.
