Kate Middleton is the Duchess of Cambridge and wife of Prince William, 38. The royal couple have three children together and have spoken about parenting over the years.

The royals are the parents of Prince George, seven, Princess Charlotte, five, and Prince Louis, two.

The Duchess of Cambridge has been open about parenting and often shared her own stories.

During the coronavirus lockdown, she has explained her own struggles with homeschooling.

While coronavirus restrictions have meant the Cambridge children have stayed out of the public eye in the last year, they were most recently seen during a family trip to a pantomime in December.

When they have been seen together as a family, body language expert Judi James claimed there has been a notable change in Kate.

Since welcoming her youngest son, Prince Louis, the expert suggested Kate has become more “relaxed”.

She stated: “Since Louis was born her ‘perfect’ smile has changed to suggest genuine delight with her three children.

“It’s now often a more relaxed-looking smile that borders on a laugh, with her mouth held open and cheek dimpling on display.

“She looks relaxed about her two other children as well, as though needing to worry less as they grow older, and she looks enchanted by the very confident and happy-looking Louis.”

The young royals are sure to have growing roles within the Royal Family and Prince George is third in line to the throne.

Commenting on the children’s appearances, Judi suggested Kate is already preparing them for this role.

She explained: “The way Charlotte and Louis were both waving avidly suggests Kate is quietly training them for their royal role and making it fun at the same time.”

The Duchess of Cambridge has often been commended for her hands-on parenting style.

As well as preparing her children for roles in the Royal Family, Kate contrasts this by appearing to encourage their “independence”.

“Kate obviously finds it important to create a five strong unit and her attention and bonding techniques seem to involve bending to the child’s height to communicate,” Judi continued.

“This might suggest a desire to grow their confidence by tuning into them to make them feel more grown-up and independent.”

When the Cambridges go out together, the expert suggested Kate is clearly “besotted” with her children.

However, Judi suggested the Duchess of Cambridge has still made an effort to give the young royals space to help them become more independent.

The expert added: “During one outing, Kate uses a face-gazing technique with Charlotte, with her wide smile of delight showing she’s also totally besotted.

“The body language suggests Kate’s happy to present her daughter as more of an independent, active spirit.”
