Morrisons has two English wines win Silver awards at prestigious competition

Supermarket giant Morrisons launched two English wines which have scooped Silver place at this year’s Decanter World Wine Awards.

The two choices, which are less than £25, are perfect for a night-in with a movie.

It’s the Best English Sparkling Brut and 2010 The Best English Sparkling Vintage which have secured the awards.

The Best English Sparkling Brut is made with the traditional blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinor Meuniere grape varieties.

For £20, each bottle is stored in cool cellars for over two years to develop the wonderful baked apple, citrus and pastry flavours.

This delicious wine is best served with Dover Sole Meuniere or even a roast chicken dish.

Meanwhile, The Best English Sparkling Vintage is also made using a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grape varieties.

Made with the wines from the 2010 vintage, each bottle, which is £25, has been stored in cool cellars for eight years.

After bagging Silver for the affordable tipple, Aldi went on to win 48 medals in total at the prestigious event.

Of those 48, Aldi’s renowned Exquisite Collection scooped 15 medals and was praised by judges for its quality.

The wines were judged by a panel of 280 wine experts, including 70 Masters of Wine.

Meanwhile, if you’re a huge gin lover, WKD has launched a new flavour.

The brand announced a pink gin flavour, which has an alcohol by volume (ABV) of 40% for £2.99.
