Parents of Britain’s biggest family charge their older children board to live at home.
In a recent YouTube video, Noel and Sue Radford answered viewers’ “assumptions” about them.
They were joined by daughters Millie, 19, and Chloe, 25, who were asked: “You want to stay at home so you don’t have to pay rent.”
The older sister was quick to clear up any misconceptions.
She revealed she pays towards her keep while she’s living in the family’s 10-bed former care home in Morecambe, Lancashire.
Chloe explained: “Us older ones do pay a little bit of board. Granted it’s not a lot but I’m also trying to save up for my own house at the moment.”
Sue says her and Noel have grown up with the belief you should contribute towards your household.
She explained: “I also do believe they should pay board if they are earning.
“We’ve always been brought up by our parents that we had to pay board…
“It’s a principle thing.”
The mum-of-22 is also pleased her older children are saving for their own property instead of going down the renting route.
She told her daughter Chloe: “We’ve always said if you want to buy somewhere, renting is a bit of dead money.
“We’d rather you saved that money up and stayed at home a bit longer.”
Noel and Sue currently live with 19 of their children – and their granddaughter Ophelia, who is Millie’s daughter.
The other kids that live in the house are Chloe, 25; Jack, 23; Daniel, 21; Luke, 20; Millie, 19; Katie, 17; James, 17; Ellie, 15; Aimee, 14; Josh, 13; Max, 11; Tillie, 10; Oscar, nine; Casper, eight; Hallie, five; Phoebe, four; Archie, three, Bonnie, two; and baby Heidie.
Their eldest sprogs Chris, 30, and Sophie 26, have freed up a bit of space at the house as they have flown the nest.
