Sean Connery started his career in film and TV in the 1950’s and has been recognised for his talents over the years including an Academy Award, BAFTA award and Golden Globe. How much was the James Bond actor worth?

The movie star was born in Edinburgh on August 25, 1930.

Before becoming a famous actor, Sean started a career in the navy.

After being released from service four years early as a result of stomach ulcers, Sean came home and worked several jobs, including laying bricks and shovelling coal.

He then joined the Dunedin Weightlifting Club and competed in a Mr.Universe content in 1953, coming in third place in the tall men’s division.

A casting director was in the audience and cast Sean in a London production of South Pacific.

After just one rehearsal, Sean decided that he wanted an acting career.

He appeared in several theatre productions before landing his first television role in a 1956 episode of Dixon of Dock Creek.

A year later, he played Mountain McLintock in the BBC’s Requiem For a Heavyweight.

Other titles by Sean include Another Time, Another Place, Macbeth and in 1962 he landed what would become his most iconic role, British secret agent James Bond.

Dr No. Was the first movie in the James Bond franchise, and Connery also played the spy in From Russia with Love (1963), Goldfinger (1964), Thunderball (1965), You Only Live Twice (1967), Diamonds Are For Forever (1971) and Never Say Never Again (1983).

He was reportedly paid £12,000 for the first movie and a whopping £1million for his role in Diamonds Are Forever.

Sean also earned himself £2.3million for his acting role in Never Say Never Again.

The actor also reprised his role as James Bond in 2005 when he recorded voiceovers for the From Russia with Love video game.
