Medical astrology was believed until the 1700s, and physicians across Europe were legally required to calculate the position of the Moon before operating on someone. The link between the planets and health isn’t believed by medical professionals today, but there’s no harm in learning about your sign’s supposed health predispositions. So, why do Virgos have stomach issues? Express.co.uk chatted to astrologer Francesca Oddie (@francescaoddieastrology on Instagram) to find out.
Why do Virgos have stomach issues?
Not everyone born between August 23 and September 22 is bound to have stomach issues, but medical astrology says Virgos are more likely to have problems with their tummies.
Each sign rules a particular area or a few different areas of the body, and Virgo just so happens to rule the nervous system and gastrointestinal tract.
This includes the entire digestive system, such as the stomach and the intestines.
While medical professionals today would almost certainly agree that the stars and planets have no role to play in your health, some astrologers have noticed a pattern with Virgos and their stomachs.
Virgos are known for being energetic, organised and super health-conscious, but stress throws this off sometimes.
Francesca explained: “Virgos are neurotic and Mercury-ruled so the nervous system is implicated in medical astrology and the gut-brain relationship is a biggy for Virgo.
“When they get stressed it goes to their guts immediately and causes tummy problems.”
The gastrointestinal tract constructs our body from the food we eat.
According to Astrology.Care, Virgos are very touchy and their nerves are their main problem.
The site reads: “Virgo has a very sensitive stomach and digestive system, and should be careful in what they eat.
“They are usually exposed to liver diseases, gastritis and colitis, problematic digestion, and slow metabolism.
“Virgos have reasons to worry about their health, but often they overreact and worry too much.”
As Francesca noted, Virgo is ruled by Mercury which is associated with the brain and nervous system.
Virgos are prone to worrying themselves sick, through undereating or overeating.
This sign may therefore be overweight or underweight if they live particularly stressful lives.
Another astrology site, Ganesha Speaks, suggests Virgos might have some food sensitivity and allergies.
The site reads: “You possess a delicate and fussy digestive and intestinal system.
“Hence, you tend to suffer from stomach ailments like acidity, heartburns, excess wind, and food allergies.
“Also, you suffer from indigestion, gas pains, ulcers, liver upsets, colitis, and bowel problems. You often face stomach issues when stressed.
“There are chances of developing ulcers if you continue to thrive on negative emotions and opinions.”
