At Sunday night’s 2021 BET Awards, Zendaya paid homage to Beyoncé by slipping into the plunging purple Versace dress the singer wore to the very same show back in 2003.
The sexy violet-and-green gown features a dangerously deep halter neckline with a long, flowing skirt and thigh-high slit, which Beyoncé chopped into a mini for her first-ever performance of “Crazy in Love.”
Zendaya, 24, wore her hair in a low ponytail with a sleek middle part, fittingly captioning the first of her many Instagram posts of the look, “crazy in love.”
Her “Euphoria” co-star Hunter Schafer commented, “oh my god” and “my jaw dropped,” while Willow Smith called Zendaya a “Queen” and Storm Reid quipped, “I wonder what it feels like to be God’s favorite.”
Though Beyoncé herself has yet to comment on the homage, her mother Tina Lawson wrote that she loved the look (and revealed that she was the one who hacked off the hemline in 2003).

Longtime stylist Law Roach posted his own photos of Zendaya, along with the caption, “get you a stylist with a ARCHIVE!!!!”
Zendaya wasn’t the only one slaying style-wise at Sunday’s show; Cardi B revealed she was pregnant with baby number two in a sparkling cutout jumpsuit, while Lil Nas X hit the red carpet in a Victorian-inspired gown and Megan Thee Stallion turned heads in a loincloth-like Jean Paul Gaultier look.
