Doja Cat’s debut on the VMAs stage was an otherworldly affair.
The musician performed her hit songs “Say So” and “Like That” for her premiere MTV performance and began her own set with a tongue-in-cheek, MTV News-inspired introduction. For her satirical stint as a MTV News reporter, Doja opted for a goth-inspired, mesh knit black top, matching wig, and black lipstick with chunky, layered jewelry.
“Hi. This is Something Quirkier from MTV News. Performing live from Planet Her is Doja Cat. Enjoy,” said the singer in a hilariously unamused tone while doing her best Kurt Loder impression. “Who the f**k is Doja Cat?” she jokingly asked an invisible producer before the performance began.
During the high-energy set, Doja wore a sheer bodysuit complete with shimmering silver and hot pink scales complete with metallic glitter booties and her mint hued hair in slicked back, wavy strands. She paired the alien-esque ensemble with an ultra glam makeup look as well, including baby blue eye shadow and a ’90s-inspired metallic brown lip.
Earlier in the evening while walking the VMAs red carpet, the singer stunned in a slinky, red fringe, slip dress by Versace. For her beauty glam, Doja rocked bright pink eyeshadow, slicked back hair with peekaboo baby hairs, and matching maroon-hued nails.
