Meghan and Harry may be struggling in suffocating LA says Fresh Prince star

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may have moved to Santa Barbara for a quiet life, but the decision could well backfire on them according to one former LA resident.

Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star Karyn Parsons, 54, who grew up in Los Angeles, has claimed she found the Californian city "suffocating" and moved to New York to escape the Hollywood atmosphere.

Harry, 36, and 40-year-old Meghan quit the royal family and their lives in the UK to head to the US for a better life.

The pair have since been working on various projects and securing deals with big name outlets including Netflix.

They also plan on raising their two children, son, Archie, two and baby daughter Lilibet in LA.

However, Karyn has admitted that LA isn't for everyone and the Sussexes may struggle with life there down the line.

Speaking to Express.co.uk, she said: "I think LA is good for a lot of people.

"It depends on what you're doing and what you can surround yourself with.

"It's an industry town, a lot of towns are industry towns, it's Hollywood. It's a little, for me, suffocating."

Karyn – who is currently starring in new movie Sweet Air – went on to explain that life in LA comes with a heavily showbiz price tag.

She continued: "At restaurants, when someone walks in, people's heads turn quickly to see who just came in the door."

But Meghan is no stranger to Los Angeles culture. She grew up there with her mum Doria.

Karyn also confessed to feeling that America became "fascinated" by Meghan and Harry following their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey earlier this year.

She said: "It's so weird that people are so fascinated with the Royal Family over here because it's not our Royal Family, it's not the same. But there are a lot of people here who are really really fascinated.

"We are all in Meghan's camp. I think she definitely does have support, we don't obviously have the same history with the Royals here."

Meghan faced scrutiny in the UK after the interview which saw her open up about feeling suicidal and allegedly receiving a lack of support from royal aides when she asked for help.

In the chat the Suits actress also claimed she had fallen victim to racism in her time with the Royals after she was asked "what colour" her first born child would be.
