Richard E Grant has penned a touching tribute to his late wife as he prepared for her funeral on Thursday afternoon.
Before the service, the 64-year-old shared two sweet snaps of the voice actor in her prime as he shared his heartbreak for his late wife who sadly passed away earlier this month at the age of 56.
The British actor shared one snap where the pair shared a loving embrace inside their family home followed by a close-up shot of his wife smiling as she read the newspaper.
The couple officially tied the knot in 1986 and share a daughter together, Olivia, and stepson Tom from her previous relationship.
The Can You Ever Forgive me? Star took to Twitter to share his sweet tribute to the love of his life.
He wrote: “35 years ago we pledged ‘In Sickness and in Health’. That Time has come for us today, as @OliviaGranted and I and our friends gather for the funeral of my beloved wife, Joan.
“The depth of sorrow mirrored by the magnitude of our love,” with five love heart emojis and three heartbroken emojis.
Fans were quick to flood the post with love, offering their support to the star online as he prepared to say his final farewell.
One fan wrote: “I’m so sorry, Richard. May she rest in peace, and may your memories with her bring you some light in these dark days.”
Another added: “Very sorry for you loss, thoughts with you and your family.”
A third added: “Such a hard but important day. You never really say goodbye, find the strength.”
Richard announced the tragic news on social media on Friday 3, September alongside a poignant clip of the pair dancing together to Only You by The Platters.
He captioned the post: “Only you! Joan – Love of my Live & Giver of Life to our daughter Olivia.
“Our hearts are broken with the loss of your Life last night. 35 years married & 38 together.
“To be truly known and seen by you, is your immeasurable gift. Do not forget us, sweet Monkee-mine.”
The award-winning actor later returned to Twitter to add how he was “overwhelmed” by the constant flow of messages to him and his family during their time of grief.
