Tom Zanetti has revealed that he would have most likely gone to prison if it wasn't for having his son at such a young age.
The Celebs Go Dating star spoke exclusively to the Daily Star about his younger days and how easy it would have been to go down the wrong path.
Luckily, Tom managed to turn things around, following a string of arrests in his teens, after the birth of his son, Deaconn.
When asked if it was true whether he believes having Deaconn at age 17 kept him from potentially going to prison, Tom confirmed that it was.
Tom, now 32, said: "Yeah it's true. When I was 13, 14, 15, I used to go about with a lot of older people, on a rough estate, and I was getting arrested quite often. So yeah, when he was born I packed everything up and was working every job I could find, a milkman, working in offices, telecoms, a bricklayer, then I ended up doing music and events."
Talking about his young lookalike son, who is now 15, he added: "He's like a new improved version of me. He's very musical, he finds all the cool music before we do. My management want to give him a job as an A and R he knows all the different types of music as well.
Talking about balancing the life of a superstar with a super dad, he agreed that it does come with difficulty sometimes.
Tom said: "Yeah, it is not easy but it's all that I've been doing for 15 years with Deaconn, so it's just part of life. Whatever I do, he does as well, we come as a pair."
Alongside his tunes, fans will also recognise Tom from his Celebs Go Dating stint, which he says "did wonders" for his music career.
Tom continued: "People think I'm like a womaniser or a*** hole but I'm not… I'm a nice guy. It definitely helped change people's perceptions, I think it showed that I'm just a normal person a respectful person.
"I'm glad I did it was an amazing experience its done wonders for my career and stuff."
Talking about his love life now, Tom said he is single now and is focusing on himself and his son, but would love to "have a wife".
The star is extremely busy touring up and down the country and gearing up to release new music. Meaning, he doesn't have much time to date but has the luxury of inviting girls down to his fancy new Leeds restaurant, Playroom, when he has a spare minute.
Tom will also be doing the festival rounds this summer and will be appearing on stellar many lineups across the UK, including Norfolk's Sundown Festival, taking place on September 2-4.
Talking about the festival, Tom added: "I'm really excited, I'm going to stay for Sean Paul's set especially. I love Sean Paul! There are so many great acts like DJ EZ and Bad Boy Chiller Crew, who I'm mates with.
"If I'm able to take my son along then I will because he absolutely loves Digga D. So, I'm really looking forward to Sundown this year."
