AJ Pritchard will be seen entering the I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! 2020 Castle later this evening. It comes after the professional dancer announced his exit from Strictly Come Dancing earlier this year. And apparently, opportunities like the popular ITV reality show allow viewers to see the real AJ, after he slammed the BBC dance competition for “hiding his personality”.

At the beginning of the year, AJ was confirmed as one of the pro-dancers for the Strictly 2020 show.

But, he then took to his social media and announced his departure, claiming he wanted to take part in other opportunities, with the dream to become a television presenter one day.

Earlier this month, he was confirmed as one of the ten contestants on I’m A Celeb’s 20th series, which has relocated to Abergele’s Gwrych Castle in North Wales after coronavirus made travelling to Australia impossible.

Ahead of his debut, AJ discussed why he signed up: “I’m always myself in all of the TV shows I take part in, but because this is 24/7, you’ll see my personality.

“Whereas with Strictly, I don’t feel like you get to see my personality at all, so I’m excited,” AJ added.

“I’ve had lots of messages, for example, Saffron [Barker] sent me a message saying, ‘I can’t wait to see you on the TV show, if it’s true. And everyone can see your personality because you have a great personality.’

“So nice messages like that it kind of makes you feel warm and that makes you not worry.

“I think for me I’m used to being on camera so much that I will just be myself and I can’t wait for everybody to see that at home.”

As for what AJ is hoping to bring to the camp, he believes he’ll be able to bring some joy to his fellow campmates in the form of a dance lesson or two.

“I’m sure at one point where it’s cold, we will need to get everybody up and moving just to get that blood flowing, so definitely there will be a little show and tell at some point,” he revealed.

But, how will he get on with the other famous faces taking part?

“I think, on top of the food, the sleep, and obviously being very cold, I think for me it’s about the world we live in today like I appreciate all the opportunities I’ve had, and continuing to happen, and taking part in this show, It’s such an honour for me,” he explained.

“So if somebody is lazy or downright rude and just doesn’t want to take part, then that would really tick me off.

“I don’t know what I’d do, but hopefully there’s no one in there like that.

“That would really really annoy me,” he told RadioTimes.com.

Alongside AJ, Sir Mo Farah CBE, Victoria Derbyshire and Veron Kay have signed up.

EastEnders stars Shane Ritchie and Jessica Plummer are also making an appearance.

Renowned author and podcast host Giovanna Fletcher is hoping to get to the final, as well as BBC Radio 1 DJ Jordan North.

Coronation Street’s Beverley Callard will also be wearing the red and khaki outfit, alongside Paralympic Gold medallist Hollie Arnold.

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! 2020 starts tonight at 9pm on ITV.
