Ellie and Vito win Strictly Come Dancing 2023
Strictly Come Dancing fans were left divided on Saturday night after Ellie Leach stormed to victory. Despite having scored 115 points from the judges, making it on the lowest score on the leaderboard compared to Bobby Brazier’s 117 and Layton Williams 119, the audience vote secured her victory and some fans were not happy about it.
The remaining three couples took to the floor to perform three dances over the course of the evening. Ellie and Vito chose their American Smooth to Ain’t That A Kick In The Head by Robbie Williams for their favourite dance of the series. Their show dance was to a Jennifer Lopez Megamix, while the judges picked their fiery Paso Doble to Insomnia by 2WEI as their choice.
Bobby and Dianne Buswell chose their emotional Couple’s Choice to This Woman’s Work by Maxwell as their favourite of the series. Their show dance was to a La La Land Medley and the judges dictated that they should also dance the Samba to Young Hearts Run Free by Candi Staton.
Meanwhile, Layton and Nikita Kuzmin picked the Argentine Tango to the Eurovision winning Tattoo by Loreen as their favourite dance. Their show dance was to Friend Like Me by Ne-Yo and the judges picked the Quickstep to Puttin’ On The Ritz by Gregory Porter as their favourite.
All three couples gave it their all, but there could be only one winner and when Ellie’s name was called out, the studio and social media erupted but not everyone was delighted that the favourite had emerged victorious.

Several viewers thought that Layton was a more deserving winner and took to X formerly known as Twitter, to make their feelings known.
A user with the handle @CalAdam625490 simply wrote: “Layton was robbed #StrictlyFinal #StrictlyComeDancing #StrayKids.” (sic) @VSnodin concurred commenting “Surely Layton and Nikita deserved to win. Stunning throughout the Final. #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing @bbcstrictly.” (sic)
@annabreeze55 was also upset with the result saying: “Gutted that Layton and Nikita didn’t win but congratulations Ellie and Vito #StrictlyFinal #StrictlyComeDancing #laytonandnikita.” (sic)

However @spiderman1497 felt that Layton had taken a place in the final from another dancing claiming it was fixed: “Layton robbed Annabel’s place in the final. How can bottom of the votes be in the final but second in the votes not? #StrictlyFinal #StrictlyComeDancing #AnyoneButLayton #StrictlyFixed.” (sic)
@RichardAllen25 added: “Nah that’s a fix! #StrictlyFinal.”

Layton, yes there’s been a lot said, but his support to Ellie at the end was lovely! Ellie, what a deserving winner! I bloody love this show #StrictlyFinal #StrictlyComeDancing #Strictly.”

Meanwhile Layton and Bobby’s odds had increased with Layton at 9/1 in the betting and Bobby the rank outsider to at 18/1 as the show started.
