Over the past few weeks, fans of the ITV soap have watched as serial killer Stephen Reid (played by Todd Boyce) has been drugging Carla Connor (Alison King) in order to take over her position at Underworld. However, in scenes set to air next week, Coronation Street viewers could see the murderer claim his next victim to stop his spiking secret from being exposed.
After adding LSD to her drinks, Carla’s behaviour caused concern among her family and friends as they fear her psychosis has returned.
Wanting to push her out of the company, Stephen has continued to drug his boss in order for her to appear incompetent in her role.
Although his idea of holding a vote of no confidence backfired when the workers remained loyal to Carla, the Canadian businessman continued his deceitful plan to get her out.
It looked as though the Underworld boss was concerned over her unusual behaviour herself as she sees Dr Gaddas (Christine Mackie) to describe how her recent episodes have felt.
Admitting feeling like she’s tripping on drugs, which she unknowingly is, the doctor prescribes her diazepam to try and help.
In upcoming scenes, the company prepares for a big American client meeting, where Stephen decides to double her LSD dosage which starts to take effect near the end of the meeting.
When the workers celebrate after the clients have gone, Carla becomes erratic and demands they all leave the factory immediately.
Although she returns to work the next day, she later goes back to her doctor to confess she’s struggling and is advised to take an extended break, along with going back on her antipsychotic drugs
This week, her husband Peter (Chris Gascoigne) is left stunned when he finds Stephen taking delight in being in charge at the factory.
Furious with the workers, he accuses the Underworld staff of stabbing Carla in the back.
Later on, Stephen’s scheme seems to be going according to plan as he’s about to sign the American contract.
However, it all goes downhill when Rufus Donahue (Steve Meo) appears and tells Stephen to tear it all up as he wants sole rights to Nippersnapper.

Blackmailing the killer, unknowing of his violent past, Rufus tells Stephen if he doesn’t agree he’ll expose how he’s been drugging Carla to everyone.
In a rage, Stephen picks up the hole punch and approaches Rufus.
With his last victim being killed similarly after Teddy Thompkins (Grant Burgin) confronted Stephen over his missing dead son Leo (Joe Frost), could Rufus be next on his kill list?
Later on, Stephen decides to lie to his niece Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) and makes out the Americans have pulled out of the contract.
Elsewhere, Peter decides to deliver a huge bombshell to Carla as he reveals the factory workers have voted to put Stephen in charge.
As Carla’s life is seeming to fall apart, as she’s also facing potential jail time after hitting Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) while driving her van uninsured, could the Underworld worker’s switch in confidence send her over the edge?
However, Stephen’s reign of terror will soon come to an end as Coronation Street boss Iain MacLeod assured fans he will eventually be caught.
Appearing on Loose Women, the soap boss said: “It’s a soap, bad guys always get their comeuppance in the end, don’t they? So yes, 100%. There’s a lot of fun to be had between now and then I will say.”
Coronation Street continues Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV from 8pm.
