DIY SOS: Nick Knowles left in tears over performance
DIY SOS viewers were emotional during the special Christmas episode after Nick Knowles and the team were joined by some familiar faces from EastEnders. They travelled to Harlow, Essex where local mental health charity Butterfly Effect Well-being was in desperate need of a new meeting place.
They had an army of local volunteer trades who made the trip from Walford to help transform a derelict building into a warm and welcoming space for the local community. The emotional show left its viewers in tears after hearing the touching stories and emotional reactions from the owners of the charity.
Kicking off the show, Nick explained: “We’re in Harlow to help a project supporting the local community with their mental health, even more important this time of year.
“They currently use a variety of local buildings but desperately need a place of their own, I have Christopher and Billy as I always do.
“We have our friends from EastEnders too, it is Christmas and we only have six days to make the transformation but that is ok because this is DIY SOS The Big Build.”

The team were joined by Perry Fenwick, who plays Billy Mitchell, Natalie Cassidy, who plays Sonia Fowler, Scott Maslen, who plays Jack Branning, Gillian Wright, who plays Jean Slater and a last-minute appearance from Zaarah Abrahams who plays Chelsea Fox.
Each of the actors went around to different sections of the charity and spoke with many different people who were involved with the charity and why.
After the big build was finally done without any hiccups, the owners were left speechless and in tears over the stunning transformation.
The team had managed to transform a tiny and derelict building into their sole place of operations and had multi-functioning rooms.
