Dr Pimple Popper is back on TLC, with even the body bumps she’s tasked with getting even more bizarre.
This week, she tackles an orange-sized bump on 50 year old gospel singer Leta, but Dr Pimple Popper — real name Sandra Lee — gets a big surprise when the lipoma starts singing itself.
While she’s confident on stage, Leta struggles daily with the lump, and admits it affects her life dramatically.
As she prepares to finally have the lump removed, she says: “It is huge. It feels like a good-sized orange. The first time I noticed that I had a lump on my leg was probably about 10 years ago.
“It’s inconvenient to say the least. It could be 40°F or 120°F, I’m always wearing a long sweater or a long top. Then I spent quite a while taping [the lump down].”
Face down on the operating table and numbed up, Leta is ready to have her bump removed. Remarkably, as soon as Dr Lee makes her first incision, the bump starts making a high-pitched squealing sound much to everyone’s surprise!
“Do you hear it talking to us?” Dr Lee says. “It is, it’s like talking to us. It’s a lipoma!”
Happy with her diagnosis, Dr Lee begins to remove the noisy lump from Leta’s bum.
Explaining why the lipoma is hitting some high notes of its own, Dr Lee continues: “Sometimes lipomas make squeaking noises, it’s just skin against skin and then there’s air involved now that I’ve opened the area.
“I think the lipomas talk to me because they know I’m coming to get them!”
As Dr Lee works on removing the lipoma, Leta tries to calm her nerves by doing one she does best – singing!
While having her lipoma pulled and prodded free, Leta beautifully serenades Dr Lee and her medical team.
“I love music because it relaxes, smooths and calms everything down,” Leta says.
After a lengthy procedure, Dr Lee finally removes Leta’s troublesome lipoma. “Wow, I can’t believe it’s not there anymore! Now I can get excited about getting married and walking down the aisle!” Leta says, thrilled with the results.
