EastEnders already filming Christmas storylines as set is decorated in lights

There are less than 100 days to Christmas, but the festive season has already commenced for the EastEnders cast and crew.

The BBC One soap is thought to be in the middle of filming scenes for its explosive Christmas storylines, with the set already having already been decorated for the season.

Pictures obtained by The Sun reveal the impressive and festive display, with strings of lights illuminating Albert Square and the surrounding areas.

Christmas is always a time to remember in Walford, with some of EastEnders’ finest ever moments having taken place over the season of good will.

Max Branning’s (Jake wood) affair with Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) being exposed via a home video is a fan-favourite, as is publican Den Watts (Leslie Grantham) issuing wife Angie (Anita Dobson) with divorce papers.

More recent offerings have seen the Carters torn apart and Abi Branning falling from the roof of the Queen Vic.

EastEnders has kept shtum about what will transpire this Christmas, but some fans have suggested that killer Gray Atkins (Toby-Alexander Smith) may at last get his comeuppance.

Charlie Brooks – who recently reprised her iconic Janine Butcher role – made a brief mention of this year’s Christmas in a recent interview.

‘I do know about Christmas Day,’ the soap star said in the NTAs winners’ room, according to The Sun.

‘But I’d be killed if I reveal anything.’

Charlie was keeping all the gossip to herself, but we’re not going to lie, this has made us even more excited for what will no doubt be an epic Christmas in Walford.

We can’t wait to find out what happens!
