EastEnders star Shane Richie reveals ‘proof’ that 'confirms' former co-star Jake Wood is appearing on I'm A Celebrity

EASTENDERS legend Shane Richie has dropped a MASSIVE hint that his former co-star Jake Wood is confirmed for I'm A Celebrity.

In July, The Sun revealed the actor – who played Max Branning for 15 years – had been in advanced talks to be signed for the 2021 series.

He exited Albert Square in February in an explosive storyline that saw his character shunned.

Now pal Shane – who's taking a break from EastEnders to reprise his West End role in Everybody's Talking About Jamie – has revealed "proof" he's definitely going to be cast.

"I keep hearing all sorts of rumours," Shane told The Sun exclusively at Tulleys Shocktober Fest.

"Shall I tell you who I've heard? I've heard about Richard Madeley and Jake Wood.

"I dropped Jake a text and he didn't reply so he could now be in isolation.. but you didn't hear that from me."

Asked what advice he would give to Jake after he narrowly missed out on a place in the final last year, Shane said: "Just enjoy it."

The 57-year-old starred in the first ever series to be filmed in Wales after coronavirus ruled out a trip to Australia.

Giovanna Fletcher went on to be crowned Queen of the Castle.

Shane added: We thought it was going to be a one-off 20th special, but now it's going back to Wales and not Australia.

"It's taken a bit of the specialness away from it.

"But I had the best three weeks."

From tomorrow, Shane stars as Hugo/Loco Chanelle in Everybody's Talking About Jamie after a brief break.

He'll now be on tour across the country until April next year.

But Shane admits he has to be careful about what he's eating – so he can still fit in his dress.

"I've had to watch my weight because it's so easy to balloon up," he said.

"As ladies knows, when you've got to get in a dress and seven-inch heels you can't be carrying too much weight.

"My skin has had a rest from the make-up in the break, but I'm really excited about getting back out on stage.

"It's great to be back and hearing an audience coming into the theatre and feeling the buzz."

  • Tulleys Shocktober Fest runs until November 6.
