Fans of the hilarious comedy series Friday Night Dinner were excited to see the show return to Channel 4. The comedy follows the British Jewish Goodman family, who spend every Friday night together for dinner, which is known as Shabbat. The main cast members have spoken exclusively to the media, including Express.co.uk, about the house the series is set in.

Fans of the series have come to recognise the house the Goodmans own, and the show is set in Mill Hill, in suburban north London.

Each episode is set inside the family home and we also get to meet the family’s awkward neighbour, Jim (played by Mark Heap).

In the series the home is owned by Jackie (Tamsin Greig) and her husband Martin (Paul Ritter) and their two sons come to visit.

Adam (Simon Bird) and Jonny (Tom Rosenthal) seem to live away from home but without fail they return on a Friday night for a meal.

In the series the family is known for getting into all sorts of mischief and there are a lot of food fights which take place.

In the previous series the two brothers start throwing meatballs at each other, and they spill red wine over the cream carpet.

The scene looks like carnage and Jackie actress Tamsin Greig described what it was like filming in the house.

She said: “It’s not an easy show to film, we are in a house and it feels like a Jewish Big Brother.

“It’s shot in Mill Hill and we do a lot of outdoor shots.”

Speaking about the interior of the house she said it was a lot of fun being able to make a mess.

She said: “With the food I worry about the waste but I find it funny. I had to throw a lot of roast potatoes at Simon Bird.”

Although Simon was good at dodging the potatoes there were a few occasions where things got very messy.

Tamsin went on to say how the setting created a real sense of belonging, and this is what attracts people to the show.

She said: “I think it’s really wonderful that what captures the imagination of teenagers is there is always a place to come home [to].”

According to Global Film Locations, as of 2018 the house in Parkside was worth £1.5million.

Filming for the new series started back in October 2019 and all the main characters will be back for the new episodes.

There will even be some new characters making an appearance this year, including Jim’s new dog.

Fans would have already seen Jim make a mess in the house when he spilled toilet waste all over the family’s living room carpet.

In the new episodes, Martin buys a grotty caravan which he tries to convince the family to have a meal in.

We will also see Jonny wearing what is said to be a hideous coat, and the boys will give their mother the good news they have been waiting for as they both get girlfriends.

Jim, the hilarious neighbour fans have fallen in love with, will be causing twice as much trouble for the Goodmans.

A new trailer has dropped and shows Martin topless as usual, and the boys winding each other up as always.
