GMBs Ben Shephard pokes fun at Lorraine over Big Purple One wardrobe blunder

Lorraine Kelly was left red-faced as Good Morning Britain star Ben Shephard poked fun of her outfit on the latest show.

The 62-year-old TV star had appeared on GMB to deliver what was coming up on her own programme.

However, she was left dumbfounded as the cheeky Tipping Point host made a rude quip about her attire.

The Scottish host looked ready for the festive period – sporting a very sparkly lilac coloured frock.

No nonsense Ben was quick to tell Lorraine that she reminded him of the "Big Purple One" from the "Quality Street" tin, which people are bound to be stocking up on right now.

He instantly began to backtrack after he'd dropped the bombshell remark but his co-star Charlotte Hawkins was not about to let him get away with it.

Charlotte said: "Morning Lorraine, you're looking very festive today," adding: "What have you got for us?"

Repaying to compliment, Lorraine replied: "I love that dress [Charlotte].

"I know Ben, you always look lovely, I don't need to say that to you. It’s a given."

Ben interjected: "Every day this week I have been watching you praise the girls."

Lorraine joked: "Poor old Adil [Ray] earlier on in the week didn't get a sniff," she followed up with: "He knows he looks beautiful."

The host, who is a big fan of Adam Lambert, explained that the American singer was in her line-up for the day.

Pointing to her frock after revealing her guests, she said: "This is why I have got this on. You have to dress up for Adam Lambert."

"Too right, a Christmas cracker I’d say. You're like a Big Purple One in a Quality Street," quipped Ben

Looking a touch embarrassed Lorraine laughed: "I do, I'll take that."

Digging himself a bigger hole, he told her: "You look like the delicious purple one, let's leave it there."

Charlotte stepped in to apologise, she said: "So sorry Lorraine, honestly. It’s the one everyone loves."

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV.
