Gogglebox returned on Friday night for a brand-new series of the nation’s favourite Channel 4 reality show. The 18th series kicked off with fan favourites Pete and Sophie in their home in Blackpool, with Pete surprising fans with the first look of his son, who was born earlier this year.

Comforting his son, Pete began: “You’re being a very good boy, aren’t you,” as his auntie Sophie looked over, gushing.

His son then surprised the pair by passing wind, with the two of them looking at each other in shock at what they just heard.

As Sophie began laughing, Pete asked his son: “Have you just s****d, you naughty boy,” before he joked: “He does take after his dad don’t he? Good boy.”(sic)

Fans were delighted to see the brother and sister duo back on their screens and took to Twitter to express their joy of seeing Pete’s newborn.

Mrs Robertson wrote: “Congratulations, Pete of @PeteandSophie, on becoming a Daddy, it is so great to have Gogglebox back but remembering the ones we’ve sadly lost too, Sharon.”

Shark Woman added: “Can’t believe Pete is a dad now, time flies.”

Jess also wrote: “Such a cute babba! Congratulations, Pete, on becoming a daddy and Sophie for knowing she’s going to be the best auntie!”(sic)

The 26-year-old has recently confessed to his supporters that he felt quite “overwhelmed” by his new fathering role.

Gogglebox also came under fire on Friday night, as viewers were left fuming over the lack of tribute to cast members who have tragically passed away.

Gogglebox favourites Mary Cook, Andy Michael and Pete McGarry all passed away this year, however, there was no tribute to their passing on the episode.

On Twitter, Sarah wrote: “Where was the tribute to the two lost cast members at the end of tonight’s episode? Have I missed something elsewhere?

“I am very surprised by @Channel4 if nothing has been done #Gogglebox.”

Donkey Oaty also commented: “No dedication to the Goggleboxers who passed away recently. #Gogglebox.”

James echoed: “Absolutely no mention of the three recent deaths in #gogglebox cast on tonight’s episode? That’s really poor from @Channel4.

“A five-second dedication at the end wouldn’t have taken much, eh??.”

However, some fans reassured the disappointed viewers when they explained the Celebrity Gogglebox, which aired the week before, showed a dedication to the three members who passed.

Mary Cook from Bristol died last month at the age of 92 after she and pal Marina had kept fans entertained with their close friendship.

The much-loved dad of the Michael family, Andy Michel, also died in August, it was announced he passed with his family by his side.

The Gogglebox team announced the Michael family, including wife Caroline, daughter Alex and son Louis, will not be returning to the show.

Third cast member, Pete McGarry passed away of Bowel Cancer in June, he has starred alongside his wife Linda and her son George Gilbey.

Gogglebox airs Friday’s at 9pm on Channel 4.
