Great British Bake Off Celebrity 2022 start date confirmed – and there’s just days to go

The Great British Bake Off is back with a new celebrity special in aid of Stand Up to Cancer.

The show will be welcoming a new line-up of famous faces to the tents in the hope of impressing Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood with their bakes.

Each episode will see four celebrities compete in the Bake Off tent, with a total of five episodes being aired in total.

And Bake Off fans won’t have to wait long either – the show is coming to screens on Tuesday March 22, with a new episode airing each Tuesday after that.

The first episode will feature presenters Emma Willis and Clara Amfo, actor Blake Harrison and Taskmaster star Alex Horne attempting to show off their baking skills in the tent.

The celebrity series will also feature former BBC Radio 1 presenter Annie Mac, actor/comedian Ben Miller, comedian Ed Gamble and singers Ellie Goulding and Example.

They’ll be joined by broadcaster Gareth Malone, actor Katherine Kelly, writer Mawaan Rizwan and Love Island presenter Laura Whitmore.

Completing the line-up of 19 celebrities is Sir Mo Farah, Strictly Come Dancing’s Matsi Mabuse, comedian Ruby Wax, presenter Sophie Morgan actor Tracy-Ann Oberman and social media star Yung Filly.

The last celebrity to take on the Bake Off challenge will be Matt Lucas – who is giving up his hosting duties for one episode to fill in for a missing baker.

Speaking about what it’s like to bake under the scrutiny of his fellow presenter Noel Fielding, Matt said: “I was forced to bake by my bosses at the last minute when one of the bakers became unavailable.

"I can’t tell you how happy I was that my humiliation was caught on camera.”

Four celebrities will go head to head in each episode, with only one getting the coveted title of ‘Star Baker’ at the end of each episode.

Stand Up to Cancer is a national fundraising campaign from Cancer Research UK and Channel 4, which raises funds to accelerate ground-breaking cancer research and save more lives.

Viewers will be able to donate to the charity throughout the course of the series.

Some stars to previously support the charity include Naomi Campbell, Noel Gallagher, Tom Hardy, Gillian Anderson, Idris Elba, Andy Murray, James Corden, among others.

Great British Bake Off Celebrity 2022 begins on Channel 4 on Tuesday 22nd March.
